Class 10          the young handlers class – for ponies, 4 years old and over, to be shown in-hand by children aged 7 to 13 years on the 1st January.

Classes 10 & 11 will be judged on the ability of the handler to present and show the pony to best advantage. Ponies entered in these classes must also be entered in their relevant riding classes on the same day.

Class 36Q CLIFDEN HIGH PERFORMANCE CONNEMARA CLASS

 

The Connemara Pony Breeders Society, in conjunction with the Irish Pony Society, are running this new class with the aim of displaying the versatility of the Connemara pony, highlighting the performance aspect of the pony over fences with emphasis on rideability, scope, versatility and suitability for child or adult.

 

Three Connemara ponies from each qualifier will qualify. The qualifiers and the final will be primarily run under the Irish Pony Society Rules for working hunters so the scoring system will be the same. At the final ponies will be asked to jump a course of 10-12 fences that will include a double or treble up to a max height of 110cm and 110cm wide and a min height of 95cm high and 95cm wide. At the qualifiers, ponies will be asked to jump a min of 8 fences including a double at a min height of 95cm high and 95cm wide. Each fence will be marked out of 10 and then a mark out of 20 will be awarded for way of going. The total is then divided by 2 and penalties are then deducted. A knock –10, 1st –15, 2nd –20, 3rd Elimination. This will complete phase 1. For phase 2 each pony will be asked to show walk, trot, canter and gallop. Judge will want to see canter on both reins with a simple change of canter lead through trot. Then the pony will be stripped and judged for movement, conformation and type. The total marks for phase 2 will be 45, consisting of 10 each for manners and performance, 10 each for movement and conformation and 5 for type.

 

Rules and Conditions:

1.      Open to Connemara ponies in possession of a CPBS passport, aged 4 years old and over. Passports will be checked.

2.      Stallions must have a letter of permission from the Irish Pony Society and be ridden by a rider that has attained their 14th birthday before 1st January 2017.

3.      Bitless bridles and gags not allowed. Pelham and three ring snaffles as per IPS rules.

4.      Boots must be removed for phase 2.

5.      No spurs.

6.      Passports of qualifying ponies will be checked at qualifier and must be presented at Final.

7.      Martingales running only.

Prize Fund: €3,000.  Entry Fee: Qualifier: €20 per pony.

Final: Day two of the Annual Connemara Pony Show in Clifden 15th – 20th Aug. 2017.

Class 37Q CONNAMARA PONY WORKING HUNTER CLASS  open to mares, geldings and stallions  to be ridden by rider under 16 on January 1st 2017.  

                         Stallions must be ridden by riders over 14 on 01/01/2017

                         Prizes:  1st €50; 2nd €40; 3rd €30             Entry Fee €15

 

Class 38Q      CONNEMARA PONY WORKING HUNTER CLASS  open to mares, geldings and stallions to be ridden by rider over 16 on 01/01/2017.

Classes 13Q, 14Q, 37Q and 38Q are all qualifiers for the Connemara Performance Pony Championship Show being held on the 26th August 2017.

Rules and conditions:

·         Riders must have qualified at approved shows.

·         Combination of Rider and Pony that qualifies must remain the same combination at the final.

·         Riders may only qualify One pony for the Working Hunter finals.

·         Competitors must produce Connemara passports at final.

·         Birth Cert for under 16 riders to be produced on day of final.

·         Stallions wishing to compete in Championship finals must seek prior approval from CPPA organising committee one month prior to finals. Riders over 14 only.

·         Stallions are qualifying for a separate championship class for, rider over 14. These stallions will be exempt from competing in the championship ridden under and over 16 classes.

·         Fence heights at final: Under 16 = 2’9” (84cm). Over 16 = 3’ (92cm).

·         Date of birth as of 1st January 2017.

·         All classes run under show rules and the decision of the appeals committee in all classes will be final.

·         No competitor is allowed to wear spurs. All under 16s must wear jodhpur boots, no long boots or gaiters allowed. All competitors must wear approved riding headwear at all times while mounted.

·         Body / back protectors are strongly recommended for all Working Hunter and Derby classes.

2.     The progeny of Registered Connemara Sire and Registered Connemara Dam.

3.     This Class is confined to ponies not exceeding 148cm.

4.     Each pony passport must be available and presented before entering the class,

                         IPS Youngstock Qualifier                                        

·         Final at IPS Annual Show in Mullingar Equestrian Centre 17th to 19th August 2017.

·         Open to Irish bred 1 and 2 year-old Colts, Geldings and Fillies and 3 year old Geldings and Fillies, which must be Irish bred ponies.

·         Owners must be IPS members and the winning pony must be registered with IPS within 7 days of qualifying. This qualifier is open to Show Pony, Show Hunter and Mountain and Moorland Youngstock.

 

No Entry Fee.
